Modified Model A Coupe

I have a Model A with miller overhead, headers, '97 downdraft, T-5 transmission with some clutch chatter. Have reinforced wishbones but could still be flexing. Any other ideas ??

Also have 160 compression ratio with engine pinging. Have very cold NKG plugs and 7 deg. adv at idle and still have hot engine dieseling. Still have not tried higher octane gas.

What do you have for a pressure plate, is it a V-8? My 29 has a lightened flywheel and a V-8 clutch and it has considerable chatter. I think it may be due to the three fingers not being evenly adjusted. The Model A pressure plate has more fingers and is probably more forgiving.

What Miller? What Engine Mounts?

Miller, which one. The original Millers were pretty low compression for today's fuel. Ventura Miller is another story. Use of soft engine mounts like the Float.. may add to clutch chatter and other irreguarities. Specifics matter.

i have a lightened flywheel with v8 clutch . never had any trouble with it . are you getting oil in it ? ........ steve

Re: What Miller? What Engine Mounts?

I believe my Miller was made in Denver. Not the new aluminum and not the original but a good repo. No oil on clutch. Infact it is kinda quick and does not have the old style smooth action. I do have the float-a-motor and have given thought to changing them back to original.
