modern fan clutch

Don’t know. May be impossible. Even shortest modern fan clutch is probably a couple inches in depth. Could you move your fan 2” forward without hitting the radiator?
 
Doesn't your '41 have a crankshaft mounted fan? Probably not going to get a fan clutch to work in the space available and you'll need a shroud to make it work properly.
