Models

I have a question for you guys. How many of you are into car models to the degree you have a model of your Ford?

My reason for asking is to find folks that might be interested in a project I've been working on that is a true to blueprint model of my Flathead engine. My bare block is being 3D printed now at 1/6 scale.

If this subject doesn't fit this forum then tell me. I won't be offended.

If any of you are interested I invite you to PM me.

When I clicked on the picture I got SPAM wanting to update spurious stuff. Watch out!!

It's nothing more than the OP's photobucket photos, nothing to worry about. Maybe the security on your computer didn't like the ad for Jewel/Osco a mid-western food and drug chain.

Speaking of models. I ran across an ERTL '40 Ford coupe in an antique shop. It looks like a quality product, and was made in the US. Any fordbarners collect them, and what would it be worth. See photo

A person on another forum is building (almost done) a model FH V8 from metal. Carved the block from aluminum and fabricated water pumps and all. A running model. Don't know about mentioning names of other forums or linking to them if they are related. His name is George and he is a well known model engine machinist.

Thanks V8COOPMAN, I just ordered one of the Hawk models. I have a stock and a hot rod version of the GMP models.

What I'm doing is fully detailed internals including the ports and water jackets.

I'm not trying to sell these. Just wanting to share the experience.

Ever been to a cruise in and have folks look at your engine and ask what it is? Then try to explain how it's different from modern car engines? Well, if you could pull out a miniature block you could show them. Some relatively astute Flathead guys still find it difficult to "see" where the oil passages go or what the inside of the crank case venting system looks like. Clear as a bell with this relatively transparent model.

Google roger Zimmerman model. He does unbelievable
Stuff. He has been making a 1:12 model of a Lincoln mk II. In metal and making all the parts by machining them.

Maisto have an excellent 1:18 model of a '39 deluxe coupe in either dark blue or dark green. They look pretty good.

We are getting side tracked, AGAIN. The OP is showing a model of the Flathead engine EXACTLY in accordance with the original Ford drawings. Detail by detail. The amazing Ford engine block casting would be a difficult task to recreate even with all the techno of 2015.

To be EXACT wouldn't it have to include leftover casting sand and support wires?

I don't think the drawings included leftover casting sand or wires.

I get what he's doing and think its pretty cool. Just because others have made their versions doesn't mean he can't have a whole bunch of fun doing it a different way.

This has to be one of the coolest projects ever. I am very familiar with Ray's work and I'm certain this is quite accurate. Wayno

Building a 1/8 Scale 1932 Ford Roadster (black frame) and rebuilding a 1/8 Scale 1932 Ford Roadster (yellow) that I built about 40 years ago. Here is a 1/8 scale Ford Flathead (for the black car). Here is a hand cast 1/8 Scale 1932 Ford 5Window Coupe created by the late, great George Zurowski. That is a future project. And a 1/25 scale AMT 1936 Ford Roadster that I built in about 1984 (recently brought out of storage and re assembled).

For those of you Ford lovers long in the tooth and not into models consider when you might be confined to a nursing home far from your garage and not able to fondle your treasure. You might appreciate a model to spark fond memories. Buried my toolmaker Dad with his Starrett 0-1.

Sorry if i sound a bit morose, but inevitable reality needs facing now and again.

It's not a flat head OR a model, I have a die-cast of my car. Danbury mint 55th anniversary edition of my 55 crown vic. Use it at all the shows I attend.
