Model T magnetized?

is a model T being magnetized just a known thing I haven't heard of or is there something else going on here. When I try to test for electricity my digital side of my volt meter goes haywire whenever the terminals get near the truck, they donp't even have to touch it just get near. The analog side still reads and on a hunch I walked around the truck with a compass and everywhere I got near and then touched was magnetized.

Well the flywheel has several magnets bolted to it which, when the flywheel is spinning, induce an electrical current through the field coils. I dont know about the whole car being magnetized, however.

Years ago I had a Model T engine that had all the steel ( not cast iron) parts magnetized, rods crankshaft camshaft transmission pedals. It had been picked up once too often by the big magnet at the scrap yard.

I know the flywheel has the magnets on it but this truck is even magnetized when not running. Everything on it from the front fenders to the bed but everything around the drivetrain is the strongest.

Nope bay 4 in my shop. Although if there's that much magnetism in the shop it may explain the headaches ive had in the past hahaha.

All you guys seem to have forgotten............. Ford magnetized the entire vehicle to catch the parts that fell off as it was going down the road.

My vote is for the car being picked up by a wrecking yard magnet. Unless it was driven by those space aliens that went unnoticed until the Roswell incident... ;)

i would vote the roswell approach. theres no way this things been in a wrecking yard. the bed isnt even tore up enough to have been hauling something into the yard. i found the magnetto is barely working so a fingers pointed in that direction.

Most all older vehicles require the use of a analog meter. The old generators put out a lot of erant spikes .
