Model T assembly plant codes...

Has anyone ever noticed on the Model T BODY floor cross sill (front) any type of letter and numbers representing assembly plant codes?

For instance SFA 0927 for San Francisco Assembly plant or AS 12345 for Seattle Assembly plant.

These codes are on a majority of Model A's...was wondering about the Model T's.

Thanks. Pluck

I've been around Model T's and Model A's all my life. It's something that appears to have started with the Model A.

HI:

As I have been told there under or behind the drivers seat and that's only a few people that have told me that. As I have been looking for the letter ( R ) on them for the Milwaukee Plant.

And I have come up empty on that Model T's so far but since Steve is in this now maybe he can find out something that I couldn't find out. As I'm also starting to think that the Numbering system started sometime with the Model A's.

As to when that would of been is beyond me maybe Steve knows that or can find that out.

Thanks

Jeff Goodrich

My 26 Fordor has KY 11563, Kearny NJ assembly. Now on the numbers the 6 is half the size of the other letters and numbers that seem to be equal size, not sure what that might indicate.

A fella had posted on this subject when I found those stampings last winter, these assembly letters did carry over from the T's.

I've heard some folks have found assembly numbers on some of the later T's. I have a 1918, 1922 and a 23. The 1918 and 21 are all original wood and metal, and I haven't found a thing that might be a assembly number. I was looking into this some time ago because Dee Moines Iowa had an assembly plant at one time. At least that's what some of my literature seems to indicate. Interesting topic I'd sure like to know more about.

HI Again:

If you do the research on that plant in Iowa. That would be great if you would as the more people that I get to do the research on the Ford Plants. That are close to them as if you did that you might find something that everybody has been looking for for years. You never know but I do know it's allot of work also. As I have allot of stuff on the Milwaukee Plant but going through the stuff for the Milwaukee Plant. I have found allot of stuff for the Iowa Ford Plant in the Milwaukee Newspapers. But now there all on microfilm or pay a researcher to do it for you.

But let me know if you are going to take this on or not

Thanks Jeff Goodrich
