Model B Engine timing advice in Model A

The B ****** is nice in that it tends to reduce the need to double clutch. Not like sychros but certainly it "works with you" on normal shifting.

I imagine between a B ****** and a lightened flywheel, driving might even be "modern."

I will try and summarize what I am doing and see if i have the solution correct. I have a 31WB pickup that had a southern engineered set up that I am trying to fix. I have a B headne and transmidown give or takewith B headtiming cover. and an A distributor on a Winfield 6.4 hc head. If i set the timing at tdc using the timing pin I will need to run? the
spark lever halfway down after starting the engine give or take I hope that makes sense

Perhaps you mean to state that you will set the timing 1st, as suggested by others, by moving the spark lever down (1/2 way or perhaps 4 to 5 notches) ? You may not want to run the engine after starting at 1/2 way down with the high compression head because it may be too advanced. You may have to adjust the spark rod based on engine warm up, load and speed, etc.
