Model B 4cyl Books and Info

Hello, all:

My dad and I are building a Model A based speedster, and we have acquired a very nice model B motor along the way that we'd like to use. I've looked all over for specs/manuals/etc. for the 4cyl. model B but to no avail. I am just learning the art of working on cars, and my dad is an "old hand," but he's always relied on books by Motors and Chilton to guide him. Any recommendations to help this motley crew out?

We appreciate it!

Dan

The B engine is, simplistically said, a Model A with bigger bearings and a better oiling system, so most everything 'A' applies to the B.

Specs, tune-up, and manuals for the different carb, fuel pump, and distributor are in the 1932 Sevice Bulletins, which are readily available in repro. After that set of bulletins, Ford pretty well stopped mentioning the A's and B's.
While you are ordering the bulletins, get a copy of the '28-32 parts book which fully covers parts interchange and non-interchange with the Model A engine.

Bruce: I have been looking for the "'28-'32 parts book" you mentioned in your answer to my question, and haven't quite found anything called that. I'm on a bit of a shoestring (aren't we all) and would hate to order the wrong book and have to pay to ship it back. Is that the actual title of the book? Would there be any benefit to me buying "The Green Bible" on CD? Thanks for the advice!

Thanks, Bob. I just located that one and was wondering if that was it. Do you know if there are any schematics/cutaways/blueprints that show the entire workings of a Model A? All of the catalogues are great for zooming in on various assemblies, but I feel like I need a "big picture." I've looked all over online for such a creature, but have not found what I'm looking for. Perhaps such a thing doesn't exist?

The parts book just shows pictures of the individual parts. The 1937 parts book has better pictures and
shows sub assemblies. The Service Bulletins would be one of the better books for overall information.

Ford went to exploded views in parts books a couple years after that...by then there was little interest in the fours, and most of what is shown is B.
