Model A with a Cummins Diesel

Seems like more and more hot rod stuff appearing on this forum, which I thought, (apparently wrongly) was for stock model A fords.

The owner of this site stated clearly that the purpose of this site was for restoration. In real life he and the moderator are Hot Rodders so they see nothing wrong with these types of threads.

Remember the post where Pluck asked about how many other forums were there that delt with the restoration of Model A's? There were three I think. Out of almost 19,000 members of this board nobody knew of any more than three! How many Hot Rod sites hundreds, thousands?

Yea, this board will turn into another hot rodder board unless the owner and the moderator are serious about the boards "mission statement".

So, what is a stock Model A and how many here have one? I don't want to pi$$ anyone off but it would be hard to have a stock Model A. I see here talk of dual downdrafts, high compression heads, custom ground cams, counterbalanced cranks with insert bearings, 4 and 5 speed transmissions and 16" wheels and these are just a few. So where do you draw the line? I do, however, believe this truck is a bit over the line no matter where it is drawn, but I like it.

Not sure what the title calls it, didn't have a chance to talk to the owner directly. Possibly the original Model A, possibly the Frito Lay truck the engine is out of, and possibly "new construction" like a kit car. Couldn't tell you for sure.

If this isn't the appropriate forum for this sort of thing (a heavily modified Model A), the mods can shut it down. No hard feelings! I read all the stickies at the top of the forum, but I didn't see anything about it being exclusively for restored Model A's. For those who thought it was cool, I'm glad you got to see it, and for those who don't think it's appropriate for the forum, my sincerest apologies.

I wish people would stop winning and complaining, and enjoy this form. Beatnjk as for me i like it and i am glad you posted it here. I would say no one that post here has a bone stock model a .

I have to totally agree with James comment. Alot of other things discussed on here and they seem to fly. But most are of a somewhat original "looking" model A. Ya,,,,,,this is probably a little to much but everyone on here has a choice. You don't have to look or read if you don't want to. I better get the cheese ready now for the whine being served.

Ahhhh hell, guys. Loosen up a little. Its not like this happens around here all the time.

This is a pretty cool idea, but then I am a purist in some regards too, while with other builds I am about the "different from anybody else" category.

For example, if there is a "close to whole" car, I would keep it period correct. BUT, if there was enough of a car(s) or truck(s) to piece together to resurrect something like this, then I am all for it.

I drive a 1985 Mercedes 300SD with the OM617 5 cylinder turbo diesel, so this is cool to me. The exhaust on mine is straight-piped and boosting 20 psi, but the exhaust on the 4BT "A" has got to go.

I am planning to throw together a 1939 Mopar 218 flat six with a KKK K26 turbo to build a truck or sedan out of parts that will have a look that is similar to the pic, while restoring a 1929 TS with matching numbers to satisfy the purist side of me.

To each, his own.

Nice truck. I guess how it's titled is between him and the DMV, and his insurance company (which is a racket anyway).

I always wanted to hide the diesel engine from my Escort in a Model A. Never got around to it...

Beautiful trucks that is unusual look pretty cool for sure. Just a quick note you are missing a screw on the driver's door handle must be all of the horse power.
