Hi Guys, What is a good used Model A Transmission going for these days? A friend broke a couple of teeth off first gear and they got ground up by the cluster gear, among other things.

I have paid $20 for a transmission missing it's top at the Epping Antique Auto Flea Market. The ****** inside looks good. The seller provided a cardboard cover which I took as assurance that he was concerned about what the ****** contained.
Ebay I have seen them as little as $50 - plus shipping. One of the Ebay vendors is a friend and has at least a couple available in this price range as I write this.
Craigslist generally runs a little more with $75 a possible low.
i don't know if you will find a GOOD used ****** nowadays, so you should buy a few to try to make one good one. just looking inside is a gamble.
there are a few differences in cases. the early multi disc clutch case will not work on a single disc application. the gears (with the exception of the input shaft) will fit into the later style case tho. some have shimmed cluster but that cluster and gears will fit into the later case aswell.
good luck on you search.
If you get parts from a doodlebug - check carefully for a cracked case. There is a Facebook Marketplace seller right now who has a Model A ****** with the case broken - but repaired by brazing. He's honest and selling with full photo disclosure of the repair.
I brought home a ****** which I paid $50 for - it has a similar crack on the case - this one not repaired but covered by dirt & grease. Seller may have been unaware of the damage.
I've paid 5$ for one out of a burned down car but the inside was immaculate.. I've also paid 100$ for just the shifter tower. So somewhere in that range.
