I've seen and heard of Ford Industrial Model A engines running pumps, grain elevators, saw mills and generator sets. There were a lot of clutch and trans modifications done by aftermarket sources. I haven't seen that one yet so I really can't help you much.

Thanks for the info, I have heard of industrial engines before but i always wondered if ford sold them or was it something other companys boght engines from ford and added there conversions? I know my grandfather said that alot of times a farmer would make his own adapters to run a belt pulley and use it for a power plant after the car was not drivable anymore. Does anyone have anyone have any old ads for power plants for model a`s ?

Seen several differnt transmissions for industrial equipment, but never seen one like that before. Rod

I have also seen several different configurations.. You ask about ads, it is my understanding that the industrial equipment makers usually bought a load (not sure how many were in a load) then added the engines and most of the time tranfer or transmission to power their various devices. When others seen this they also removed engines to power various things. Looking at the end I would say a grain or feed mill (looks a lot like a PTO off a tractor).

I wonder if that gear reduction might have been used for a carnival ride?

It wasn't so long ago that the small town carnival rides had gas engines rather than a central generator and electric motors.

I thought it might be a set-up to add a belt pulley and run flat belt implaments. Thats what i plan on using it for, making a portable power plant to run buzz saw. Just something to add alittle fun to work.

Back in the 70's we were at such a carnival and there was an old car engine running a small ferris wheel(could have been an "A".) What caught my eye was the steady stream of oil coming out of it into a bucket. Every once in a while a Carny would come along and pour the oil back into the engine (while it was still running of course)
