Model A title information

I acquired the above truck last year and took the title (issued 1953) to the sec of state (Michigan) to transfer to my name. While looking at the new title it looks like they made a error when they entered the serial number. I still have the title from 1953 (they voided it and let me keep it) and the numbers on it are confusing to me.

The Sec of State entered number (5112050) as the serial number on the new title and I believe this incorrect. Before I return back to have it corrected I need to verify what the following numbers are. I do believe the correct serial number should be A 2325 149.

Can anyone help me ID the other numbers on the title? Frame is to badly rusted to pull a number and there is no engine to check that number.
Are the last 3 numbers (149) the engine numbers of part of the serial number? The title reads as follows:

Make-- Ford A 2325 149
Body---PK UP
Year --1930

On the right center side of the title it lists the words --Title number

Listed above those words --5112050
Listed below those words ST C 53 363369

Thanks in advance.

Well for one, A2325149 is a September 19, 1929 stamped number.

I think all Model A serial numbers were listed as A****** or AA********on the original title. However, on several more modern Model A titles I have seen the A or AA prefix was dropped and only the numbers were listed.

Ron,

No A 2325 149 is not listed on the new title. I am thinking I should go back to the sec of state and have them correct the new title to reflect the above number vrs what the entered (5112050). Your thoughts, anyone?

Thank you

YES, have it corrected. It will also save a hassle in the future for resale.

What are you going to do if they come out to check the number on the frame.
In NC that is what they would do. Are you sure you can not find the number on the drivers side around the rear motor mount. You could try putting some paint on there and then sand it, has worked for me in the past.

Yes you need to get the title right, it is not like the old days when no one cared about the numbers.

DMV clerks sometimes get confused when dealing with titles and make mistakes. A few years back I registered a older vehicle from a different state and they entered a title number off the old title in the place where the serial # goes as I caught it while still there they corrected it immediately. I have learned since to always make a copy of old title before transferring it to me so if they make a mistake I do not see I still have proof. As Tom stated if you go to sell the car with incorrect serial #'s you are going to have a problem with the sale.
