Model A spindle bolts (king pins) or Model B

About 18 months ago I 'grabbed' a spindle bolt assembly for my 29 Model A from an eBay seller, thinking that it would be great to have relatively old but good quality parts on the shelf for when I converted back to mechanical brakes and overhauled the front axles/spindles.

Well, I've started the job and took the precaution of checking my Model A spindle bolt kit (photos below). I've searched the forum and one quote from Redmodelt is .... 'Just in case, when you put the open faces of Model A king pins together, the openings where the brake shafts fit, the shafts will be sprayed (sic) out. Model B up the shafts will be parallel to each other."

I assume I've been sold a lemon!

Richard, Both A & B are splayed, The differance is in the angle of the grove where the locking pin is driven in . Its to do with the angle at the top , Just removed A pins from a 32 axel as owner could not get the brake set up too line up due to that grove , fitted correct 32 onea & all lined up , He tought if he altered the grove all would work pos but not sure what would happen when brakes were applied . The diiferance is slight but once in the hole you will soon see, Hope this helps.

Thanks Derek for the reply (and also to 2 others for PMs).

Looking at RedModelT's quote, I arranged the spindle bolts in picture 2, and I think he's getting at the fact that the spindle bolt shafts are parallel for B. Presumably they splay apart for A bolts.

I think that Derek is referring to angles which are 4 degrees (A) versus 11 degrees (B), which can just about be made out in the diagram which I placed under the bolts in pics 1 and 2. Anyone think my spindle bolts (king pins) are Model A ??? - hoping.

I think they are Model B, I thought if you placed the spindle brake cup flat on a table the Model B shaft runs parallel to the table and a Model A would point upward at an angle.
