I don't claim to know everything so can someone tell me what model A has a one piece splash apron and running board , I've got a very solid piece but don't know what it's for, thanks for any info

1930 has a one piece runningboard and apron. The front section is welded to the fender.

Model A Ray, Post #1: "one piece splash apron and running board"
---------------------------------------------------

The words 'one piece' and 'and', makes me think of the 1930-style combination set-up. I know that there is room for 'early' and 'late' exceptions to this over-riding basic fact, but generically we can safely say - 1930. Specifically as we are talking about the running board AND the splash apron being integrated into one piece. For the most part, the years before 1930 and the year after 1930, the Running Board and the accompanying Splash Apron were two distinctly separate pieces, whereas in 1930 they were integrated into a one piece unit.

Hey Ray,
The integral running board/splash apron (with separate 'nose' piece tacked to front fender) is for EARLY 1930. My early '30 roadster has those parts. It also has the OVAL speedo which the early '30 also had/has.

Not quite true. Actually, it ran for the entire 1930 production year, with a mixed configuration of both types in the last quarter of the 1930 production year.
Referring to the RESTORATION GUIDELINES, pg 13-6:

"From the introduction of the 1930 Model, through September 1930, a two-piece shield [splash apron] was used. The front portion was spot welded to the fender. The remaining portion was an integral part of the running board. Beginning in September 1930, a one piece shield began appearing. The transition from the two piece shield was completed in all plants in December 1930."

These GUIDELINES really are an important resource that should be in everyone's Model A library. They do an excellent job of clarifying a great many 'grey areas' and correct a great many half-truths and erroneous information. Like me, a great many of us old codgers 'shoot from the hip' relying on faulty memories of what we once knew, as well as passing on our own long held beliefs - some valid, some of questionable validity.

Sometimes, when I really need to know the actual documented and validated 'truth', or when I question an answer, I brake down and pull out my GUIDELINES to get the real truth. They have been a tremendous help to me over the years.

The 1930 Model A cars except Model AA trucks and Model AA commercial vehicles used them.

I've got a one-piece on the left and a two-piece on the right. It looks fine to me because I can never see both sides at the same time.

Now THAT'S the way to look at most things in life! It is always good to see someone with a healthy outlook and way of 'dealing' with life's many 'stresses'.
