I'm restoring a 1930 Tudor that has eleven leaves in the rear spring. My Dad told me that occasionally farmers, and I suppose others, put a rack on the back to carry various items and they occasionally added and extra leaf because of the location of the added weight in the car. Ok, my question is what does the addition of an added spring leaf do to the ride. I can remove it, but would rather just leave it if the ride isn't to stiff. There must be a spring constant but I can't find out what it is. I know that Ford redesigned the springs over the years changing the leaf thickness. As a note, I don't have a "reference ride" since the car was in pieces when I got it. I would appreciate any comments.
