Model A rear engine mounts.

I posted about a problem with the rear of the engine being low enough to hit the brake cross shaft on a 28 PU frame.

I pulled the mounts off tonight. Had rubber on outside under outer plate and on the inside between mount and frame.

Holes in the frame are much bigger than those in the engine mount.

Had lock washers stuck in the big holes in the frame to keep the bolts centered.

Why the big holes in the frame? Are there supposed to be bushings in the larger holes in the frame?

Can someone describe the hardware setup, hole sizes and recommendations to get the mounts correctly installed.

Looks like with the big holes in the frame, the smaller OD bolts would just settle into the bottom of the larger hole sizes in the frame. I am sure Henry did not put those 3/8" lock washers in those holes to bush the bolts.

What the right way?

Comments appreciated.

The rubber pads are correct inside and outside of the frame. The holes in the frame are larger than the bolts on purpose. There is a metal sleeve that goes through each hole, and the bolts go through the sleeves. This allows the proper "give" in the attachments, and prevents over tightening of the bolts. Brattons sells the entire kit of good quLity and fit and is pretty self explanatory as to installation.

There are round protruding bosses on those rubber pads that fit those frame holes tightly and the steel bolt bushings are inside the bosses.
