Model A pickup cover

I have a 31 pickup and want to make a bed cover for this. My idea is to build a huckster-type cover. Plan to have the sides open like you might see of a truck that would sell produce, or the like, out of. I want to leave the cab as a closed cab, and not like a huckster. Question: has anyone else done this, and/or anyone have pictures, or more info?

Check the "Commercial A's" thread and I'll bet you find a lot of pictures.
I might have one picture if I can find it.

Yup. I LOOOVE to see new entries to the Commercial A thread. I've just about looked through all of them. Almost time to start over again and download to myself the pix I particularly like.

At least one vendor (forgot who) makes the canopy top you refer to as a kit. A bit over a hundred dollars IIRC. You may be able to do better as a DIY, but it might be tough to source hardwood and keep the price down.

This is the only picture I have. I saw this very nicely done fruit truck at Oshkosh a few years ago.

Is that a Siamese chicken? Someone was making steel brackets per originals many years ago ( I have them on mine) however the trail went cold when I tried to find some more.

Snyders now offers a wooden replacement bed made to fit the Model T Ford (well, it was designed for a Model T but likely fits the A as being similar.)

I'm not sure what the "cutouts" near the rear of the side-boards accomplish. Other than that it looks good.

I built this one earlier this year. I looked at as many as I could find and combined various elements into my own design. They really change the look of your truck. Good luck with yours, you won't regret it.

In Cool Hand Luke movie, his mother visited him lying in the back of one of those canopy things with flymesh around.

Every time I see them, it reminds me of the flick.

Anyone know of the vendor that has the kit? Living away from any major source of wood, a kit might be the best solution.

Attached are pictures of my canopy. I and a friend made the racks. a local canopy company fabricated the cover. It has already been rain tested and passed with flying color.
