There are 12 states that levy an inventory tax...

But rates are quite low and most have exemptions for various industries.

Always good to ask if it is "in stock" if you order by phone. Also, in many cases, it is automatically indicated when you order through the internet.

Keeping the entire catalog of parts in stock is a very expensive proposition...even with a sophisticated system of reorder points and order up to levels. That is probably the main reason that some vendors are out of stock at some times.

Tams in Northborough, MA would be the closest to NH. They carry most of the same items as all the others.

Macs, Snyder, and Brattons are the ones I have experience with, and all have useful catalogs. Brattons is my favorite for parts quality. Snyder is the easiest for internet ordering, with pretty good parts quality. Macs, I avoid unless no one else has the needed parts. Their parts always seem to be cheaply made and fit poorly. But still, I do not rule them out, if parts are needed, it is just that my expectations for quality from them are lower. A lot of reproduction parts can be modified to make them work.
