Model A nonstart

My 1931 coupe was running last fall, but when I went out this summer to start it, I had no power to the starter or to the lights, but the horn honked. This occurred before and after the battery was on a charger. Before I start to track the problem down, I would be receptive to any suggestions regarding the problem.

I would check and clean the battery to frame electrical connection.

Is the wiring stock? No solenoids or other added items?

Could be the starter switch is also corroded inside and not making a good contact.

You might have to pull the light switch apart and clean those contacts too..

And don't forget to clean the contacts on the ignition points..

It might be the ground cable at the frame. Make sure it is making good contact and that you have positive to ground. If you don't have splash pans, which help ground the motor to the frame, you could use a jumper cable to add extra grounding from the starter to frame. I would start by putting a meter on different areas to see if you are getting 6v at the battery.

I agree with the frame battery ground and starter switch. Get the starter working first then see if there is voltage to the points.

hmm odd that both of those would not work but the horn does. In a stock wiring set up it all should use the post on the starter switch to power everything. Is your set up ran through a fuse block? Either way get out a meter I always kick myself for trying to just work it out for hours then within 5 minutes with a meter its all sorted.
