Model A Marine Engine

Cleaning up the 'way back' area of the warehouse and brought out a couple 'marine' engines. One is a 60HP flathead the other a Model A that 'may' have some issues. :)

Any idea the aftermarket conversion supplier? Did not see any markings……
Will be out in the parking lot this weekend to check out. May just end up in the showroom over by the Model B compressor :)

FWIW: Just past actual vintage boat experiences.

If one thinks an original Model A or Model B engine rear bearing leaks a lot of crankcase oil when mounted in a car; wait to see how much it leaks oil when placed on more of an angle after being attached to a boat's angled propeller shaft.

Next, while this Ford marine engine is not appearing to be initially leaking too badly at an increased propeller shaft type angle at idle, wait to see what happens when the engine angle increases while the boat is taking off, and while the boat is traveling and planning on the water with the bow lifted upwards.

Again, FWIW: Just something to consider prior to installing an original Model A or Model B engine in a brand new custom built pristine wood boat ....... "without" a custom designed rear bearing seal .

Extreme heavy cast iron Model A motor weight vs. such small HP of a Model
A engine demands bob-tail design & precise hull bottom design without any marine transmissions to win any boat race.

But just experience vs. the normal written B.S.
