Model A lookalike

Cool Hand Lurker

Well-known member
A friend is selling what looked like a Model A in the shed but at closer inspection it turned out to be a 1929 Studebaker. I got fooled! I know it is not Model A but I know lots of old car guys that are interested in more than just Ford, if it is a good car. She has it on ebay if any of you guys are interested in getting something different. Ebay item 261227691569. There are only 12 hours left on the auction so this off-topic stuff might last that long and have a chance to be read before somebody complains, I hope.
Nice lady, recent widow, deserves a helping hand.

Yes, that would be a great luxury-liner! Probably would not need a lot to make a presentable automobile capable of touring the country in. AACA is really promoting "touring" with cars such as this. Present bid of $10k seems like a bargain.

there is a lot of wood in them, a wood framed car with sheet metal tacked to the wood, hard to restore and expensive for the wood kit, built like the old fisher bodys, the last kit i seen advertised was $7500

I thought I saw a 30-31 Model A four door not far from my home in NJ. Being the curious type, I stopped and looked. It a late twenties Nash Taxicab, complete with the checkered belt rail. Yet to my eyes, at the time, I thought it was an A

Thaks a really cool car 10K does seem like a bargin. There is only one bid now I suspect there might be a higher bid lurking somewhere. Although I can't imagine many people search Studabaker. My wife would kill me if I brought home another car.:)

My wife said she would kill me if I brought another car home....so I bought a Model A bus.:)

The engine does not have two plugs per cylinder. Looking at it closely, this engine is a straight 8-cylinder, and there are 8 plugs.

Once I looked at all the pics, I've kinda changed my mind. Not that it wouldn't be a decent car to own [ I'm a Studebaker nut since I born and brought up in a Stude garage] , but, It is pretty rough. It does look complete though. And, it is an 8 cylinder engine, and a great engine at that.

Actually, I have seen it and it is in pretty nice condition. Any original 44xxx mile car will show some wear but it really doesn't show much.
