Model A kingpin locking bolt removal

If it was me, and I still had my lathe, I would make new ones. Start with a hex rod and then machine the diameters and chamfers. Lastly thread the end and drill the hole for the cotter pin.

Measure the hardness of the originals first and then order hex rod of the same hardness. You can turn the die used to thread the end around backwards to get the threads to go all the way to the bottom of the threaded part.

For future reference, when hammering on the end, use a standard nut, not the castle nut, to protect the threads.

The big shoulder goes on the back. If the lock pin goes in backwards the wheels can rub on the break rods when the wheels are cranked over when backing up.
