sorry not hubs but drums. I got a load of parts with my new toy. One of the brake drums has cutaways (openings) in the center. like pie cuts kinda looks like the steering wheel in shape. IT has a brake shoe surface and is tapered. looks just like a regular drum besides the cut aways. are these normal items? agian i am a newbie also when i put the rad in today it hits the engine crank handle loop before it sets flat on the frame, i asume their is a pad underneath the mounting points or is the rad I have for a 30 31. thanks

sorry no pics today. will get some soon. I bought a whole shed full of mostly nos a parts. oh the joy. starters, carbs, trim, speedos. plus zillions more. should have enough nice pieces to finish my car now.

Boy "chopo" you raise a lot of questions.

I sure hope you have some "guide" books to go by and not putting your "A" or "AA" together by the seat of your pants!

My suggestion is to start by seeing if there is a national club in your area...who knows. To see if there is, go to the STICKY above and the post on websites will tell you if there is a MARC or MAFCA club near you. Once that is found out then contact the club.

There is a fellow in Lewisburg who is a member of MAFCA...he might be able to help you to, providing he is still there. Send me a email and I will tell you who he is.

There may be several senarrios as to why your radiator is hitting the Starting Crank Bearing ("engine crank handle loop").

Is your frame a 28, 29, or 30-31?

frame 29 yep seat of my pants :) makes it more interesting. leaning new things is fun. by trial and error, errors only usally happen one time

i looked in the resto book. looks like 31's had these. I would like to find 3 more. they are not normal looking. i like that

You might, and will, learn by "errors"...but in todays time, especially in this restoration business, by erroring may mean $$$$$$$ down the road and that ain't no "fun"!! Do it right the first time and you will be ahead of the game...BUT as they all say...it is YOUR car and do it as you see fit!

Good luck.

The drums you mentioned sound like what is commonly referred to Rocky Mountain drums. Are they cast? They sound like the good ones, have them measured to be sure they are not worn out. New, 11.000, worn out +0.060

Flyin by the seat of you pants is fun. My A is not to be a show piece but a fun ride. I'll make Ol' Walter look good but he won't ever be judged by anyone other than me. As Sinatra said "I did it my way"
