Model A History

I recently came into the possession of a 1930 model A Sport Coup convertible that had spent a number of years buried under a pile of boxes, old mattresses, etc. The car is in very good shape and didn't take much work at all to get it up and running.

My question is a small plaque from the Antique Automobile Club of America dated 1968 on the passenger side that says "First Place National Winner." The only thing I know about the car is that it was purchased in Pennsylvania about 15 - 20 years ago. Is there any way to trace the history of this car? I know this may seem to be a simple thing for some people but I admit my ignorance in this matter.

Thanks for any help.

terminology....

"Sport Coupe" body is not a convertible. the fabric top stays up.
if the top goes down and it has glass windows, it's a Cabriolet.
if the top goes down and has no glass windows, it's a Roadster.

not trying to be snarky here, just helping you get up to speed as a newbie , as others kindly did for me back when...... ;)

Thanks Chris and you're not being Snarky at all. I appreciate the correction.

Thanks Pat for the website.

Sounds like a nice car if it won an AACA National First place. Not as many cars showed back then so it should be an easy one to trace the ownership of. Call AACA and ask about tracing it.
