Model A Ham net

A while back there was a thread about Model A hams and it occurred to me that a net, or at least a one time QSO party might be fun and useful. I would undertake to set this up and be net control, but I am on the west coast and in the middle of town and have S7 ambient noise on my vertical and cannot hear stations sometimes. It occurs to me that someone with a beam could rotate from the east to west coasts, even overseas, for Model A hams. Any hams out there that would like to set this up and give it a try?

Not into it anymore, but gotta ask: Do you have proper radials on your vertical, and is it truly 5/8 and resonant for the band? S7 (> -83db) seems killer for where you are at. I'm in the middle of Chicago and your food will cook by itself in some places if you don't hide it in a Faraday cage, but the active ham guys I know don't usually have that kind of receive signal interference.

Mike: Its a commercial mulitband vertical dipole. The noise is ambient-nearby power line, police/fire station with their antennas not far away, traffic signals down the block, street lights, etc and an intermittant 60hz buzz that I cant find. A lot depends on band conditions whether I can get stations above the noise level here. Works good to the far east when sun spots are up. Keep thinking about setting up the A for 2m mobile, but just havn't got around to it.
