Model A gas tank fit

Are the gas tanks the same from 28/29 to 30/31? Also, are the coupe tanks any different than the PU tanks?

for the most part 28-29 are pretty much the same. then you have early 30 then 30-31 and then late 31. Steve Plucker wrote a nice article on Model A gas tanks.

The cowls on Ford produced model As are all basically the same in 1928/29. The subcontractors used the same tanks as Ford did but the tanks were hidden in the 28/29 Briggs and Murray body designs. The 30/31 tanks were out in the open on all designs but the design for the indented firewall changed things in 1931. The early 1930 commercials used a 29 style tank but the filler bung was changed for a different filler cap.
