Model A Ford Hearse????

There were two types;

270-A Funeral Service (54" w x 102" l x 55" h) built by Briggs in 1931-32 with a wheel base of 131.5"

and

275-A Funeral Coach (54" w x 102" l x 55" h) also built by Briggs in 1931-32 with the same wheel base.

The Funeral Service car was basically a deluxe delivery (with all the deluxe stuff like chrome) with one large window on the side.

The Funeral Coach was also based on the deluxe delivery and had four doors and large windows.

I think they were pretty much the same as the 280 A, which was the Ambulance. Which, BTW, was my first vehicle at the tender age of 14. Wish I knew then what I know now!

Do a Google images or a Yahoo images and plug in Model A hearse. There are several photos of them located there. I had an opportunity to purchase a 30's Packard hearse back in the early 70's. Stupidly I didn't buy it at the time, but went with a '40 Chevy sedan. That hearse was a beauty, for sure. You would not believe it if I told you just how cheap old vintage cars were at those local wrecking yards back then.

I thought I saw one at Elliott Museum, Stuart FL. I do know there sure were several vehicles I had never seen before. Great Take!

Here are some photos of the Model A hearse in the Den Hartogh Ford Museum, The Netherlands (NL):

There were two vehicles sold by Ford on the AA chassis in 1931...

270-A Funeral Service
275-A Funeral Coach

The Elliot Museum in Stuart, Florida has a couple of them. I believe the bodies were built by Murray. The models Brad posted above are based on these.

Like a lot of the Model A trucks, there were a lot of custom and homemade bodies created on AA chassis.

Yes - Querfeld Funeral Home has a Model A hearse. It is often displayed at the Henry Ford Greenfield Village Old Car Festival. The owner loves old Hearses and his consultation room has a wall of scale models of various types and vintages of funeral hearses.
