Re: Model A Bucking with Acceleration ( re-gapping POINTs several times infirst 500 )
1. My experience in the past 60 years is that in the past 15 years is that many repro point "rubbing blocks" wear VERY rapidly. that is in under 150 miles.
2. If someone asks you to check the point gap on a set of points which you replaced recently Do Not think that re-gapping is not needed (just because points are new!)
It is best to check the gap especially if they have less than 500 miles on them and you have NOT re-gapped them several times!
3. After re-gapping points for 2 or 3 times, the rubbing block will "work harden" and no longer require re-gapping.
4. After about 500 miles re-gapping 2 or 3 times, re-gapping will no longer be needed.
5. Polishing the distributor points cam and lubing with points lube (NOT Vasoline) will cut down the number of times that you must re-gap points!
