In the 1960's, when my 'everyday' driver was a '28 Chevrolet, one of the comments I frequently heard from old timers was: "Every boat needs two engines - A Ford to make it go, and a Chevy to make it stop and stay put (i.e.- Anchor) ! So I know that lots of Ford Model A engines were used for water craft.
In my early days as a Merchant Marine, I travel the world expensively. Of the many uses I saw the Model A (& B) put to, one memorable one was as the motive force for powering the 'Donkeys' that ran along side the Panama Canal, used to move anything and everything. The ones that I saw most were run on light, narrow gauge iron tracks - Like the tracks use for ore carts in mines.
