Model a backfire

The truck has been converted to 12 volt with alternator and ballast resistor wondering if that could cause the backfire.

I have only heard of this one time...spring on the pin that holds tension on the end of the camshaft breaks. It lets the timing gear slide forward on the crank gear. Thus the timing changes dramatically when the shaft slides back-n-forth. Try every thing else first.

Problem solved it was the float or the valve in the carburetor, Runs great now. I appreciate every one for the info. Thanks Tony.

Don’t overlook checking for faulty capacitor, which can cause such problems.
