Model A and model B valve lifters

I would not use original A lifters with an original B cam. That cam was designed to use a lifter with an 1 1/8th inch foot. Using the A lifter with the 1 inch foot will affect the duration. You can get modern adjustable lifters that will work on a B cam from the vendors that have the correct size foot.
 
If you are running a model B cam you will either have to use model B lifters or adjustable lifters. Model B lifters are longer than model A lifters. The available ajustable lifters will also have a smaller base than the model B lifters. The base of the double lock lifters are the smallest of all, as far as I know.
