I have a model 94 carb that was spewing gas out of hole in upper right side. Anyone seen that before, it was in a car I got that had not ran in a while.
Sal, I've got several 94s, 2100s and 2110s and all vent internally. The pictured carb hole is too large for a vent, and looks like I've seen on carbs modified for a gas heater, mainly on Strombergs.
Sure seems like a great place for crud to get in and collect, since it doesn't appear that the air cleaner would cover it.

Bob, the actual vent is indeed smaller than that external hole. The vent itself is beyond the accelerator pump, that hole only providing tooling access to the vent point. And yes, it was earlier.
The op started a similar thread over on the HAMB that I also posted on, but Bruce Lancaster provided info agreeing with you that the hole is an early vent method. Below is part of my response on the HAMB.
"I admit I was wrong about the hole. ....My earliest 94s are post war 59 and is why I don't remember seeing this before....well, that is until I went through a box of misc carb parts,.... and found a 94 top....with that same hole!Learned something today!"![]()
