The 1st shot here is making up the sub frame on a spare frame/chassis out side ,The second one is a 34 sedan seat base, I prefer genuine ford if I can get it .we are changing it to fit the Roadster , you can see were we have added some ply wood and were the brass wire is is were we will build it out with spring steel wire so its identical to a Roadster . .We managed to get some American Oak for the rear seat so i will post some shots of that later .The last shot is punching the dimples in the sills .We used a piece of chain link .and a squire bit of bar stock.

You have some great ideas for metal working equipment. Your dimple tool is sweet. Did you make the dies for the bead roller? I also have a 34 cabriolet that I am doing lower cowl patches, rockers and, lower quarters. And sub frame repair. Learned a lot of tricks of of your pics. Very cool build.

Peevee ,Yes we make the die rollers as we need them the Swage machine in the vice was made about 30 years ago .its something that anybody could make .Just some box section stock and two old matching gearbox cogs ,and two bearings in the roller end ,one moves up and down .the other end is just drilled through the angle support ,Good luck with your Cabro ,a good choice ,I will post more as we go .Ted

Here Is two shots of the seat ,This has a part # 48 something ,I think its a front back rest of a 35 sedan ,Its ideal for us i had to reform the edges and cut short the outer wire ,you can see were its welded. the 3rd one is prepping the patch panel to weld in .I file the join so they match and there's very little day light .Then less Rod is needed , The 4th picture is it tacked in place ,This is gas welded .If you plan on doing this when fully welding use a small tip but a hot flame on a 30% angle pushing the heat forward moving as fast as possible .But first Tack every 1/2 to 3/4 along up to 2" them hammer and dolly ,to keep it from over lapping .

In this ist shot is a close up of the sill panel showing how the dimples come out .I drilled through the sill cover holes to guide me were to punch . The round bar is about 3/8 ? 10mm tube .the forward end is bent down to simulate the stock look. The 2nd shot is of the middle section of the floor in the making ,

FlatheadTed ............................
It looks like you have a couple hours work ahead of you. Keep up the good work. In my opinion, the 1933-34 roadster is the prettiest flathead FORD, ever built.
MIKE :)

,Thank you Joel and Mike. I agree its right up there as one of the nicest, I started this build 20 years ago so I thought I better get on with it .1st shot is the finished weld ,you do get some distortion so its going to need slapping around a bit .2nd and 3rd is were we needed some hinges so we got them of this door ,the lower ones needed extending ,4th is to show that you can make dies to do any thing eg this tail gate ,

Floor from the 34 book. You can see the sub frame on the left .Bare in mind you can get the Sub frame from Steve's Restorations in Portland, and patch panels from vendors like Macs in NY ,

Here in the first shot is making up the lower left door skin patch .Then next is the patch panel tacked in # 3 is a mock up study of how the wood will go.This wood section needs to take the lower rubber seal .it also has a bow in it to follow the sill line ,In this shot and you can also see the lower front door frame repairs .4 is rolling up the cowl repair section then 5 is the door to cowl pattern taken of a original car .
