Can anyone give me any installation hints on installing one of these units into a flathead am curious as to how they fit up thanks

Couldn't be easier. Take out the driveshaft and cover and install the new driveshaft/overdrive. Fit nice on my 36 woodie. Had one on a Model A as well. Have one ordered for 41 woodie. On some flathead body styles you must modify the floor board for one to fit.

Thanks I have noticed there does not seem to be a flange on the Mitchell torque tube that bolts up onto the gearbox as the stock torque tube has why is that?

Sorry may have confused you I meant the stock torque tube has a hemispherically shaped flange that bolts to the back of the gearbox the Mitchell torque tube as supplied does not have one therefore how does it bolt up to the gearbox or am I missing something thanks

Got it seems the one piece universal joint outer housing cap as fitted to early cars was later replaced with 4520 split housing in service and that is required to bolt the Mitchell torque tube to the gearbox thanks all now sorted

You didn't mention the year model or body type of your vehicle. Some models require a floor modification near the differential to work properly. I believe it is in the 33 or 34 model years and perhaps some later models but I don't recall.

There have been other threads on this subject. You might try a search if you have one of the models that needs modification to the floor.

Maybe this picture will help to clear-up some of your questions. Mitchell modifies the torque tube(s). DD

Well, you don't have to worry about a flat with the plywood wheels but how many miles do you get on them?:D I did the same but put the tires back on for road use.:) Mitchell O/D's are great and trouble free. John
