Fifth Avenue Antique Garage sells cable shifters for over drives. Somebody probably knows the web site. I visited the web site. He seems to know how to do it. i would still like to see pictures too.

Joop: my Dad's 50 ford V8 w/overdrive had it cable actuated, You might be able to adapt something like that. I would think for or merc, probably 49-54 or so might work. Hope this helps.

This was a BorgWarner OD, and the cable was only a lockout, not a shifter. Shifting was electrical utilizing a governor, solenoid, and a kickdown switch.

Joop says he started installation today, didn't say what type of shifter he was going to use. There was a post on the "A" board.
