Mitchell Overdrive Ratio Question

Hello

Need some advice please, 32 coupe, 284 flathead, warmed over and 3.54 final drive. Not sure to go for 36% or 26% over, anyone got experience?

Thanks for any advice.

rear tire size and desired cruising speed... camshaft as well... you don't want to be lugging that thing too hard if it's a hot motor.

Tim : Do the math correctly and compare it to their advertised ratios as their numbers actually contradict themselves. Their claimed "26%" is really around 18% and their "36%" is more like 28%. The actual unit is very well built and will make your car a pleasure to drive, but you will be wasting your time and money with the "26%"unit. Go for the lever as it's much better than their cable set-up. Good luck : Bruce

36% od with lever, 378 rear, 7.00 tires, basic rebuilt .60 over with a ground cam 37-38 21 stud engine. Works great. Some pull (not lugging, more like it needs a downhill to increase rpms), if I don't run the rpms up (3g ish) or I'm not doing 60 before going into 3rd OD.

354 gears might be interesting with "36%" and a regular flathead however.
