Mitchell EZ Check transmission dip stick kit

I installed the Mitchell EZ Check transmission dipstick kit in my 1931 coupe today. I did the entire installation without having to get under the car. Used my new Sunex fill plug socket to remove the fill plug.
The EZ Check works great!

To me it’s more hassle to remove the floorboard to access the trans dipstick than it is to periodically pull the plug from below and check the level with my finger. My $0.02 worth.

You don't have to remove the floorboard if you put an access on the right side like the one on the left for the battery.

The students at Georgia Tech were REALLY bad about not checking the transmission oil level in the Ramblin' Reck regularly and topping it up. It was just a hassle for them to get under the car to check it (and they are young, limber things, not like us old guys!). So I installed one of these EZ Check dip sticks in the car for them. Much better.

Biggest downside... now they overfill the transmission!

When it was just a fill plug, the excess oil would pour out of the transmission case. Now it stays in there, in the pipe. The excess eventually leaks out. It's all good.

So, beware, if you install one of these, it is easy to overfill the transmission. Fill slowly, check frequently.

I'm with JayJay. With the carpet on the floor on my Town Sedan and with the shift and e-brake boots it would be more trouble than if I just crawled under.

How often do you have to check yor trans oil anyway? My Mitchell transmission does not leak!! Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Mitchell products, but this one I don't need.

you DO NOT REMOVE the floor board. See Carl g’s
previous post! For those of us that have original transmissions it’s a great addition for us older guys!

Correct, but in my case, you do need to lift the carpet and insulation. Not so easy as it sounds.

It is as easy as it sounds, or at least for me. My Deluxe Coupe has carpet too. I just turn the corner of the carpet up toward the shift lever, pop the floorboard inspection plate (same as battery plate), pull and inspect the dip stick and reverse the procedure. Much easier and quicker. Also, it's easier to add fluid.

Whatever...
