Missing part???

My uncle sent his v8-60 to a shop to have the block cleaned.

He said the cleaning process ate up a part that he forgot to take out.

He said it was a pot metal piece ( maybe a seal ?).

Do you know what he is talking about?

What is the piece and where should it be and where do I get one?

Thanks,

Randall

No, I am not clairvoyant. Maybe you could post a picture of the place where this missing piece is supposed to go, and we will have some idea of what you (your uncle) is talking about, and help "him" out. Big grin.

Shame on the mechanic that let the part go in the caustic tank. How much does the shop know about rebuilding a flathead? Be careful you may the wrong shop.
Upper crankshaft oil seal: 37-39, 52-6335-B (after the first 250 units) or 1940, 022A-6335. See if the old part still has the part number visible. Try Southside Obsolete web site for contact info, or Joblot Automotive
