Mismatched wheels

Does anyone have any pictures of A's with mismatched wheel sets?

I am thinking of putting a pair of 6.50-16 Firestone knobbies on 35 wheels on the back of '30 Tudor but retaining the stock '30 19s on the front. I am wondering if the car will have an interesting "utilitarian look" to it or just look bad. Thanks for any pictures or opinions. :)

I did that same thing on my truck the only reason I did it was becose I only had two good ones of each and the 19inchers were in worce condition so i put them in the front and the 35s wich were 16s i think I put in there rear to hold up presures rear wheels get they looked terible and I had a few model A guys get a prity good laugh out of it as soon as I could aford new tires I i put all 19 " ers on it. ID send u a pick but at work i dont have them and at home i dont have internet.

Wellll...Heck, I dunno! I like the knobby tread tires - The car is unrestored and I think they'd help to give it the look of a car belonging to a 1940's farm family. I already got a good deal on a slightly used pair of the knobbies but dont have the dough right now to buy a pair of 16" fronts. Just wanted to mount em up and have a little fun in the mud on the backroads this spring, but was hoping to see a picture of how the different rim sizes look together before going through the trouble to mount the tires. Thanks.

p.s. I have a perfectly good set of 19" tires on the car now - was just piddling around with this idea for some fun.

Don't know if this will help, tere's a 4 door A on epay w/16" wheels on the car and 19's for the sidemounts, posted couple of days ago.

I see this quite often -- especially when the fender wells aren't wide enough to handle the 16" wheels/tires.

Brian, if there idea ever came to fruition, I think what you will find is almost all of the old 16" Knobbies are as hard as 'Chinese Arithmetic' and they won't last very long driving on pavement. Also, the ride is rough and the road noise ain't much better. I'm thinking your idea would be much akin to a large rocket engine strapped up on the roof. It will look cool for awhile but the functionality will be severely lacking.

We had an abandoned Sport coupe near me with 21's on one side and 19's on the other...
I guess it only made right hand turns

To me, sixteen inch wheels always look bad on a Model A. I wish someone would make 19 & 21 inch radial tires that look authentic.

Back in my youth, when I had a '31 Fordor, it had 16" steel wheels on it when I bought it. I didn't like the wheels, but that's what I had. One day I noticed a trailer in the neighborhood that had 19" Model A wheels on it, and I approached the owner and suggested a trade. He was tickled to death to get my tires/wheels, and in the process gave me 6 original 19's -- all with pretty good rubber. I much preferred the 19's then and still do.

Well maybe the first photo isn't quite what you're looking for.
The 2nd is my A, not for the purist maybe but all it takes is putting the original wheels and tires back on and its back to standard, photo 3. apart from a few go faster bolt on that is.
Also available in gingerbread:)

I vote for "just look bad". If the hubcaps were the same size it might look ok. I saw a car with early Cadillac wires on the rear and bent spoke Kelsey's on the front that looked good.
