Could the armature and pulley be incorrect. There is a long taper shaft and pulley and a short taper shaft a pulley. In combination with play in the block hole. JMHO
If you put just the bolt through the cover and then the generator is there any "slop"? With the bolt in the generator only is it parallel to the body. From my one good eye it seems the back of the generator needs to come up just a tad.
1930 coupe - post #7 shows the best picture I have right now. As I said I have it all back together for a trip to the Vocational school tomorrow morning. Then I will take it all apart and get some more pictures. jimvette59 - the armature could be incorrect as it is a repro part but don't see how that would make the whole generator lean to the rear like it does ( see picture in post #7). Don't know if the pulley is correct but here again I don't know how that would affect the lean. Quigley1930[/B - I'm sorry but I don't understand your question in part "If you pity just the bolt throughout the cover" which cover are you talking about? As far as the bolt being parallel to the body I can't answer that question because I honestly never thought of that, but will check that out sometime tomorrow late or Tuesday. Your eye is correct because that is the problem I'm trying to correct, the back of the generator is leaning to the back.
Once again thanks for all the suggestion and opinions. I do appreciate them all. When I get the generator taken off again I will take some more different angle pictures and post them.
Check the end plates on the generator. They should have upsets or pins to lock the end plates into the correct position with the main body. I've seen people try to mix and match parts and either remove the locating pin or hammer the upset flat. This will allow the plate to turn, which will **** the generator a little to the side.
..had the same issue with a replacement generator, similar to the installed one, when trying to install it, the shaft was not parallel to the crankshaft. I fixed this problem by enlarging the whole on the rear bracket arm and all is good...
