Anybody have a good place that resilvers the back side of mirrors at a decent price--- it's beveled glass so can't just have a new one cut ----thanks

almost any glass shop can cut a new round mirror for you and then sand a nice bevel around the edge with their huge water cooled belt sanders

Dave M, A trick I have used is to remove all the silver backing and just put a new mirror behind the beveled glass. This works well if you have enough room for a double thickness. I have an old desk with beveled mirrirs and it is almost impossible to tell the difference. Bubby Sharp in KY

You can in fact cut a new one. I have an antique (1912) that needed resilvering. The local glass shop made a new one for less than the cost of resilvering. The glass is slightly thinner than the original but mounted in the frame it's not visable. The bevel is the same size. They could also have had the original resilvered if desired.

I have sent several original Model A mirrors to Ron's Corner (27169 State Hwy 6, Winston, MO 64689 / 660-749-5473) to be resilvered. The mirrors came out looking very good. Ron charged $24/mirror to resilver plus $8.50 shipping on my work last year. I have learned from Ron that sometimes the old mirrors have a permanent stain in the glass - and it will still show after resilvering. So it is a little bit of a gamble when dealing with old glass - or else send him extra original mirrors and have Ron resilver the one that cleans up the best. John

I've had several mirrors resilvered by the following business, ranging from small items like car mirrors to large, beveled-edge pieces from antique furniture. They do the process "in-house" and I have always been pleased with the quality and price.
