Mid 1931 Gas tank WITHOUT Steering Column Bracket...

Does anyone have a Mid 1931 (April) Gas tank that does not have the Upper Steering Column Bracket riveted to the tank itself?

It was released for a short time before the Indented Firewall Tank for 180-A Deluxe Phaeton; 190-A Victoria Coupe; 400-A Convertible Sedan; and 295-A Town Car Delivery.

If so, would you please email me as I need a photo of it for the 30-31 Gas Tank Article.

This tank is the A-9002-D tank...the only one I do not have a picture of.

Thanks.

Pluck

not clear so please excuse me ! my june 1931 tudor does not have any brackets on the tank . my column bolts to the dash rail .................... steve

Steve Norcal - He's looking for a tank that has no column bracket on it (that doesn't mean one filed off by a restorer) and has fuel shut off inside the car, not outside the firewall.

Steve, It looks as if it has been filed and filled. sorry bout that. I have seen one before tho around here. it was a April-May '31 tank with not column backet. i beleive it was at a swap meet. guy wanted like $300 for tank and firewall but i ran out of $$ on the first few aisles :D My tudor is an April '31 car. my dad narrowed it down for me to the week in April it was made. it was one of the last tudors with non-indented firewall. I think we found it was made the last week they did that. then all the tudors had indented firewalls.

Sorry i couldnt end up helping. if i see one ill remeber to snap a few pictures for you.

Steve,
today I went to pull the engine on a 160-B and it has the tank you referring to ( I think) no indented firewall, internal shutoff valve, steering column hanger off the dash rail. I notice you did not mention the 160's as having one. Is this possible? do you need a pic? It will probably be a month before I have the engine ready and can back there to get you the shot tho'

This doesn't bolt to the tank. It bolts to the rail

That answers a question I had about my Gordon Smith air compressor conversion. Indented firewall, no tank bracket for column.
