Michigan Upper Peninsula trip

I trailered the Touring to the U.P. for the 4th. and had a nice time. Very slow roads, great scenery and didn't get mercilessly tailgated like I do around home. It was our daily driver for five days with no exceptions. We ran it about 100 miles altogether, with a few trips after dark for "refreshments" to the local mom & pop grocery. The headlights were practically useless, but we were only going 30 m.p.h. on country lanes anyway. This trip has been the highlight of my driving season so far. Car ran great and got lot's of waves. We ran most of the time with the exhaust cut-out open, which will turn heads a block before you get there. Lodging was at the family farm, which was a nice period backdrop for the picture.

Greg, sounds like you had fun. Michigan is fast getting so populated that as you leave one city, you are entering the next.
You must like noise if you can drive with that exhaust cut-out open. I can not handle more that about 5 seconds of that noise.

In about 1970, dad and I drove the touring from Chicago to Milwaukee, took the ferry to Ludington, then up to da' Soo, then stopped in Trout Lake U.P. to stay with some cousins. The cuz was the postmaster at TL, Mi. and that was about 45 miles SW of the Soo down gravel county roads.
Next stop was Fayette and on to Escanaba and then Door County Wi. and home. Just about 1000 miles. Great memories! ws
