My car (a special coupe) has this metal spare tire cover. Was on it when I bought it. Aftermarket, or ?

To get those installed, it helps to let the air out of the tires and then install the cover and then blow the tire back up.

I found one in my shed a few months ago.I came across a lot of them in the 70's and 80's,but sold them all off to the T bucket boys for front fenders.I must have missed this one. Those guys aren't looking for them as much anymore,as those front fenders are made now pretty cheaply, and here at least the state relaxed the law on front fenders on street rods.

This is my spare tire cover. I am so lucky to have found it locally. It is an aftermarket metal cover that mimics a Ford accessory cover. The critter, Wily Coyote was supposed to be a warning to tailgaters to back-off. However, he is an attractant!

oldspert, you have good eyes for details. Yes, I did not get the right side taillight alignment as good as it should be. Someday I will get around to fixing it. The bracket needs some bending & shimming. I am having too much fun with the car to take it apart now. Fixing the taillight is on my large list of things to do on my Victoria.

Hello, I think the metal covers were offered as repro accessory, but no longer listed in Snyders catalog. I wanted to get 2 for side mount spares but would probably have to be modified to fit . The metal covers do seem to be more prevalent on Ford V8s until 1937 when spare went in the trunk.

Correction: Metal spare tire covers are acceptable for June 1930, with stainless trim for November 1930 onwards.
