metal fuel lines to carb

I want to fit a metal fuel lines and glass bowl fuel filter to my 312 Thunderbird-engined 56 Crown Vic.

I keep seeing neat metal fuel lines on Thunderbirds at shows but can't seem to find the metal line from pump to filter & from filter to carb listed in any aftermarket parts catalog.

I've currently got a miss-mash of flexible lines with canister fuel filter which detracts from a nice looking engine.

Shot this image today of the 57 Thunderbird..I want those fuel lines!!!

Does your current fuel pump have a built-in filter on the bottom?

The steel lines & glass bowl TBird style fuel filter are readily available thru any of the '55/'57 TBird parts suppliers. Obviously the last line from the (new) filter to the carb will be determined by which carb you have, there are several.
I've found it's often better to call the parts counter of your preferred supplier and speak with someone directly who knows the parts, rather than ordering parts blindly from an online catalog, especially when it's a one-off sort of thing.

Just a stray and completely unproven theory.... steel fuel lines up from the fuel pump 'may' absorb/retain more engine heat than rubber lines and contribute to vapor-lock. In a larger engine compartment like yours it may never be a problem.

thanks guys. No my pump does not have a glass bowl at the bottom.

The carbs is a Holley...need to see which model and, as you say, phone somebody at the parts dept to determine exactly which filter to carb pipe I need.
Many thanks
Colin

If the outlet on the fuel pump is the same as a Tbird and you want to set it up like a TBird, then the TBird parts suppliers have the lines.

Personally, I would stay away from stainless. Overkill as the regular steel line will probably outlive you. And if the ends are not annealed correctly, can be a bear to get the ends to seal.

CASCO show part # 9160I-fuel filter to carb and 9160F-fuel line from fuel pump to filter. With a Holley, you might need 9520 which is a special line for a Holley to to the filter (with the stock sedan air filter you may not need this). They also have the filter(9155). The other thing you will need is the bracket that holds the filter and lines in place (9180) and the clip (9B281)

Look up CASCO, they have online pics of the various parts

If you have the original type Holley teapot four barrel carb, just use the reproduction "filter to carb" fuel line for a '56 T-Bird.

Both posts offer good advice (IMO) ... ;)
