I was told that on my '41coupe the antenna has to be on the right to get away from the static from the fuel gauge. Told to me by the chief Machinic of ACE Ford in Woodbury, NJ in about 1954

The authentic antenna for your '41 was placed directly in the center of the roof, just rear of the windshield.

If static were an issue, Ford did offer a suppressor for the fuel gauge. Obviously, even back in 1954, not all mechanics were good mechanics.
