OK...I spent today getting the rest of the "Merc" motor disassembled.
I figured I'd go ahead and do it for the practice. I learned a lot about how to (and not to) get the pesky stuck valves out...after I figured out how to get the darn valve retainers and guide keepers off. A hour and a half later, after breaking a couple valves, bending one...or two...and ruining several springs, but I got it all apart. One valve was especially stubborn. I finally took a chisel and stuck it in the intake port and did a two handed hammer slam. I was trying to break the stem but it moved open enough I could get the pickle bar under it.
I already had all the pistons out. They came out much easier than I would have thought.
Then, I rolled the engine/stand outside and got my pressure washer out to clean it up. I figure I can use it as a dummy block to make my motor mounts and all.
Well, I get started and after maybe 5 minutes, just enough time to get really messy, the pressure washer decides to blow a gasket. Along with a couple bolts.
So I ordered a kit to fix the washer and a couple disposable suits for next time I get going. I love Amazon...
It blew...stuff... all over me. I expected it, but geese!
I had to go clean up and change clothes.
