merc or ford

I have a 51 merc motor that would be a very easy rebuild. No cracks and very little cylinder wear. This motor has the 4 inch crank. Would i be better off rebuilding this or use this crank in a ford block for a stroker motor. I am planning on using this in my 50 f1 pickup with a 5 speed.

The blocks are identical-transferring the Merc crank to the other block will result in the same thing you started with. You might want to use the Ford heads though-might give you a slight boost in compression.

as was stated above the only differences between the ford and merc engine is the pistons and crank, putting a merc crank in the ford engine you will wind up with what you have now, just build the merc engine
