Mechanical or hydraulic?

Is the brake system mechanical or hydraulic on a 34 1/2 ton pickup? I've heard it both ways!

Mechanical. First year for hydraulics was 1939.

John is right, ford was late in upgrading there brakes

Originally mechanical but a lot of them have been converted to hydraulics, so you won't know for sure till you look at it.
