Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge

I have seen a big Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge mounted on the left rear of the block in the engine compartment of a 39 V8 flathead and I am looking for one. I would prefer an older gauge and can only find pressure gauges. Could these be used for oil pressure? Does anyone know where I should search for one. I've looked on ebay and most of those are newer or are the antique brass ones that say only "pressure. Does anyone have one for sale or can point me in the right direction? I would really like to have an old Brass one if possible. Thanks Randy

I was able to find an old Stewart Warner mech oil pressure gage, 2-5/8", fits in a 36 dash real good. Check on the classified section on the HAMB, good place to look.

Some of the old oxygen or acetylene low pressure gauges were brass with 1/4 NPT threads. I don't know if they'll handle liquid but they were attractive and the old Victor gauges I have kicking around even had threaded brass rimmed lenses. Just a thought.

Check with Tom at Then & Now in Weymouth MA. They had a nice SW large oil pressure gauge for sale recently. Looked like NOS. 781 335 1579.

Thanks everyone for the information. I will check with Tom tomorrow. I want a big shiny one that will mount down into the block. I would like to find a brass one that is somewhat oversize. Thanks again.

Thanks for the heads up. I just went there and it is priced very low. I really want one that is about double that in size. I also can't find out for sure about the antique large gauges that were for air pressure or steam pressure - will they also work with oil? They are what I really want in the way of looks. Thanks again for everyone's advice.

Pressure is pressure, air, steam, oil. If they will handle steam oil should be a piece of cake!

I have to admit that I did not think of Amazon. I am really looking for a very old and very well built one that is about three or four inches in diameter. I need one that has a stem for mounting to top of block of truck. I would also like it to be brass. Thanks for being on the lookout for me.

Hey Jack, I am watching all of the gauges that this particular seller has. Now these are what I have in mind - "Ain't They Purtty"? I fully expect to buy one of his unless I find another one that is "Purtterier". I'm driving my computer nuts with my spelling.
