matching a 223 block

Hi All,
I am new to the group and have a question. I need to rebuild the 223 from my 1961 F100 because the block is cracked. I have a lead on a good used block but it is listed this way:

"original Block out of a 59 Ford Fairlane with a 223 6cyl. Parts book shows it will fit: 1959-1960 Edsel with a 223; 1954 through 1960 Ford cars and Pickups with a 223"

Is there any reason why I cannot use this block with the head and other parts from my 61 F100 223?

Many thanks.

This is the Questions to the Editor section, about this site.

You should ask your question in the Late V/8 Discussion section here,
and you should get some help with your question then. Good Luck ;)

wrong place for this but I'll weigh in.

The block and guts (if you get them) will work. The head if you get that will work too, but may be slightly different.

IMO, what you may find out is… you may have to do a lot of work with new bearings, checking clearances etc. to get it properly back together. Also it may take some machine work. So be ready in any case to make things "work"

good luck.
